Cách đây 8 năm, seri Resident Evil tưởng chừng như đã đi vào ngõ cụt. Resident Evil 6 ra mắt và bị giới phê bình lẫn game thủ chê bai thậm tệ, khiến thương hiệu này phải "im hơi lặng tiếng" trong một thời gian dài. Và rồi, với sự ra mắt của Resident Evil 7, sự sống đã trở lại, kèm theo đó là hi vọng dành cho người hâm mộ.

Resident Evil 2 Remake tiếp nối sự thành công đó với doanh thu cực khủng cùng vô số lời khen ngợi, rồi Resident Evil 3 Remake ra mắt, vượt qua một cột mốc doanh thu đáng chú ý, tiếp tục được cộng đồng game thủ đánh giá cao. Tựa game này tốt đến mức phần lớn lời than phiền đều xoay quanh việc không đủ nội dung.

Với một tựa game AAA có mức giá 60 đô-la, Resident Evil 3 Remake thực sự rất ngắn. Mặc dù nó được gắn kèm theo Resident Evil Resistance, nhưng với đa số người chơi, hai nửa khác biệt nhau như vậy không thể làm nên cả một trò chơi hoàn chỉnh. Đáng tiếc rằng, với những ai kì vọng vào DLC dành cho Resident Evil 3 với các nhân vật mới sẽ phải chấp nhận thất vọng.

Trong một cuộc phỏng vấn gần đây với Silicon Era, nhà sản xuất của Resident Evil 3, ông Peter Fabiano tuyên bố game đã là một sản phẩm hoàn chỉnh, do đó sẽ không có thêm bất kì nội dung phụ nào. Câu trả lời của Fabiano là lời hồi đáp cho câu hỏi về DLC và nội dung phụ dành cho Resident Evil 3.

Resident Evil Resistance vẫn sẽ được cập nhật

Trừ khi kế hoạch của Capcom thay đổi trong tương lai, còn lại người chơi chỉ có thể dành thời gian tìm kiếm các bí mật trong game, hoặc thử thách bản thân bằng các hình thức speedrun khác nhau. Dĩ nhiên, Resident Evil Resistance vẫn sẽ được cập nhật thường xuyên. Tựa game này vốn đã được thiết kế để trở thành một game multiplayer so tài liên tục giữa các người chơi với nhau. Game vẫn sẽ được hỗ trợ với nội dung mới trong tương lai gần.

Mới tháng trước, nhân vật Mastermind mới nhất của Resistance, Nicholai Ginovaef của Resident Evil 3, cũng đã được thêm vào game. Và mặc dù phần đông game thủ thất vọng trước nội dung khá ngắn của Resident Evil 3 Remake, họ vẫn có thể giải trí bằng các bản mod khác nhau đến từ cộng đồng mod vô cùng năng động của Resident Evil. Game hiện đang phát hành trên PC, PS4 và Xbox One.
